Content of oenothein B in willow herb depending on growing conditions
2022Introduction. Chamerion angustifolium (L.) Holub (Onagraceae) is a representative of willow herb species found throughout lower temperate northern regions. Its use to treat prostatic adenoma has been reported. Willow herb has been traditionally used in folk medicine and currently it is a potential raw material for the production of phytopharmaceuticals.

A new dimeric, hydrolysable tannin which we have named oenothein B (1), and eight accompanying compounds, including oenothein C (2), were isolated from the leaves of Oenothera erythrosepala. The macrocyclic structure of compound (1) was established from chemical and spectroscopic data.
