Adult male rats were surgically provided with a drainage catheter in the left thoracic lymphatic channel and an indwelling duodenal catheter for constant infusion of physiological saline-5% glucose. After an overnight fast, animals were given a single duodenal dose of an aqueous emulsion containing one of the following: oleic acid, corn oil, menhaden ...

Oil‐absorption function of physical crosslinking in the high‐oil‐absorption resins
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003AbstractThe concept of physical crosslinking was introduced into the research field of oil‐absorption resins, which were traditionally synthesized only by chemical crosslinking. Specifically, the partially physical crosslinking acrylic series for high‐oil‐absorption resins were prepared in the suspension process, and the swelling behavior of the ...

The absorption of fish oils and concentrates
Lipids, 1992AbstractBoth preventive and curative therapies have created a considerable demand for eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids. The most common sources for ω3 fatty acids are fish oil. The concentrations of EPA and DHA in commercial oils, after modest enrichment, reach about 300 mg/g; alternative technologies can produce reasonably priced

The lungs of normal animals and of normal animals fed with oil have been examined for the presence of oil. Frozen sections stained with Sudan IV and haematoxylin reveal Sudan stained intracellular granules and interstitial or intravascular oil globules in alveolar walls. In general these oil globules are larger and more numerous in the oil fed animals

This article reports the effect of cell structure on oil absorption of highly oil-absorptive polyurethane foam (ON-PUR), which is suitable for on-site foaming. We have developed ON-PUR as an oil absorbing polyurethane foam using a very reactive recipe. ON-PUR was synthesized by mixing polyol, water, additives, and polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate

Transdermal Absorption of Castor Oil
Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine, 2005This study evaluated the potential for transdermal absorption of castor oil, a treatment modality recommended by Edgar Cayce and used as an alternative medical treatment. Specific epoxydicarboxylic acids are known to be excreted via the urine when castor oil is administered orally.

Absorption of the two oil shocks
European Economic Review, 1982Because France is a medium-sized open country, the response of its economy to the oil shocks of 1974-1975 and 1979-1980 has been a function of the behavior of its partners as well as of domestic developments. This has been especially true of the interaction between oil price changes and exchange rates: when the first oil shock occurred, the French ...

Absorption of Oils into Porous Coatings
Trans. of the Vth Fund. Res. Symp. Cambridge, 1973, 1973An approach to the basic processes of ink absorption into paper coatings is made by considering the way in which oil is absorbed into kaolin-based layers (50 microns thick), formed on flexible polyester substrates. Oil layers are applied to these layers by use of an IGT printability tester .

Fracture mechanism and oil absorption of an oil-accommodating adhesive
Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 1997We have studied the fracture mechanism and oil absorption in an oil-accommodating adhesive. Shear and T-peel tests were carried out for test pieces prepared from two steel plates bonded with the adhesive, which is mainly composed of epoxy resin, modified NBR, and inorganic powders.

Digestion and Absorption of Fish Oil by Neonatal Piglets
The Journal of Nutrition, 1989In order to establish the digestibility and absorption of fish oil, 18 unsuckled, newborn piglets were tube-fed an amount of fish oil calculated to provide the piglets' maintenance energy needs for 12 h. After fat administration the piglets were either intubated with 25 ml of fat-free milk replacer per h, or fasted.
