Thermo-pressing of cake meal from sunflower whole plant, one only operation for two actions : expression of residual oil and molding of biodegradable agromaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The starting material used in this study was a cake generated during thermo-mechanical fractionation of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) whole plant in a Clextral BC 45 (France) twin-screw extruder.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

AlphaFold‐Guided Bespoke Gene Editing Enhances Field‐Grown Soybean Oil Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Enhancing the oil or protein content of soybean, a major crop for oil and protein production is highly desirable. GmSWEET10a encodes a sugar transporter that is strongly selected during domestication and breeding, increasing seed size and oil content ...

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Pyrolysis of Dried Wastewater Biosolids Can Be Energy Positive [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Pyrolysis is a thermal process that converts biosolids into biochar (a soil amendment), py-oil and py-gas, which can be energy sources. The objectives of this research were to determine the product yield of dried biosolids during pyrolysis and the energy

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Drip Irrigation Elevated Olive Productivity in Southwest China

open access: yesHortTechnology, 2019
Water is essential for crops and plays a vital role in olive (Olea europaea) growth. Three irrigation treatments, rain-fed (CK), flood irrigation (FI), and drip irrigation (DI), were applied from late November to late May in a 2-year study (Nov.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Oil Content and Fatty Acid Compositions of Some Oil Sources

open access: yesAsian Journal of Chemistry, 2013
The oil yields of seed used in this study ranged between 27.1 to 39.8%of the dry weight. Results showed that the oils of safflower 1 seeds used in this study had higher linoleic acid content (78.06%) than those of other linoleic acid contents. On the other hand, oleic acid contents of seed oils varied between 14.21%(safflower 1) to 67.79%(rape 2 ...
