6b-hydroxymaslinic acid, a triterpene from Vochysia ferruginea

A novel oleane acid was isolated from the leaves and the fruits of Vochysia ferruginea. The structure of the new triterpenoid was elucidated by NMR spectroscopy as 2alpha,3beta,6beta-trihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid (6beta-hydroxymaslinic acid, 1).
