Composition‐Aware Cross‐Sectional Integration for Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Multi‐section spatial transcriptomics demands coherent cell‐type deconvolution, domain detection, and batch correction, yet existing pipelines treat these tasks separately. FUSION unifies them within a composition‐aware latent framework, modeling reads as cell‐type–specific topics and clustering in embedding space.

Olfactory discrimination largely persists in mice with defects in odorant receptor expression and axon guidance

open access: yesNeural Development, 2012
Background The defining feature of the main olfactory system in mice is that each olfactory sensory neuron expresses only one of more than a thousand different odorant receptor genes.

Inhibitory Odorant Signaling in Mammalian Olfactory Receptor Neurons

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 2010
Odorants inhibit as well as excite olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) in many species of animals. Cyclic nucleotide-dependent activation of canonical mammalian ORNs is well established but it is still unclear how odorants inhibit these cells. Here we further implicate phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K), an indispensable element of PI signaling in many ...

Terrestrial Cyborg Insects for Real‐Life Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article reviews the development of terrestrial cyborg insects from their emergence in 1997 to mid‐2025, examining three key aspects: locomotion control methods, associated challenges with proposed solutions, and practical applications. Framing these biohybrid systems as insect‐scale mobile robots, the review provides foundational insights for new ...

Neuropeptide complexity in the crustacean central olfactory pathway: immunolocalization of A-type allatostatins and RFamide-like peptides in the brain of a terrestrial hermit crab

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2012
Background In the olfactory system of malacostracan crustaceans, axonal input from olfactory receptor neurons associated with aesthetascs on the animal’s first pair of antennae target primary processing centers in the median brain, the olfactory lobes ...
