Synthesis and Properties of Spirosilafluorene Oligomer

open access: yes, 2011
A novel solution-processable spirosilafluorene oligomer is synthesized by palladium- catalyzed Stille coupling reaction from 2,2',7,7'-tetrabromospirosilafluorene, 2-(4-biphenyl)- 7-tributyltin-9,9-dioctylfluorene.

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Quantifying Co-Oligomer Formation by α-Synuclein

open access: yesACS Nano, 2018
Small oligomers of the protein α-synuclein (αS) are highly cytotoxic species associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD). In addition, αS can form co-aggregates with its mutational variants and with other proteins such as amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau, which are ...

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Reconstitution of Pure Chaperonin Hetero-Oligomer Preparations in Vitro by Temperature Modulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2018
Chaperonins are large, essential, oligomers that facilitate protein folding in chloroplasts, mitochondria, and eubacteria. Plant chloroplast chaperonins are comprised of multiple homologous subunits that exhibit unique properties.

Changes in the C-terminal, N-terminal, and histidine regions of amelogenin reveal the role of oligomer quaternary structure on adsorption and hydroxyapatite mineralization

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Adsorption interactions between amelogenin and calcium phosphate minerals are believed to be important to amelogenin’s function in enamel formation, however, the role of specific amino acid residues and domains within the protein in controlling ...

Direct PIP2 binding mediates stable oligomer formation of the serotonin transporter

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The human serotonin transporter (hSERT) mediates uptake of serotonin from the synaptic cleft and thereby terminates serotonergic signalling. We have previously found by single-molecule microscopy that SERT forms stable higher-order oligomers of differing

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Arginine methylation as a regulatory ratchet in cancer: From substrate selection to malignant‐state stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Arginine methylation can be viewed as a persistence‐prone post‐translational modification regulated by a network of PRMTs. Competitive and compensatory interactions among PRMTs can redistribute methylation across substrate pools shaped by sequence, structural, spatial, and environmental layers, reinforcing RNA‐processing, chromatin, and signaling ...
