Sugar Type Discrimination in O-glycosylation Based on Protein Primary Sequences

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2013
Glycosylation is one of the most important protein post-translational modifications. O-glycosylation plays important roles in biological functions. There are several variations of O-glycosylation, with each having a different function.

Hydration of Oligosaccharides [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1990
Abstract The spin-lattice relaxation times, T1, of H217O have been measured for aqueous solutions of 2 di-, 2 trisaccharides, α-, and γ-c clodextrins as a function of the concentration at 25°C. The dynamic hydration numbers, nDHN, for 17 sugars including monosaccharides were expressed by the linear relation of the mean number of the ...

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.

Research and Application of Chondroitin Sulfate/Dermatan Sulfate-Degrading Enzymes

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2020
Chondroitin sulfate (CS) and dermatan sulfate (DS) are widely distributed on the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix in the form of proteoglycan, where they participate in various biological processes.

Research progress on the metabolic transformation of Shenling Baizhu San under the influence of the gut microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Chinese Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in maintaining host metabolic homeostasis and overall physiological functions. Shenling Baizhu San (SLBZS), a time‐honored classical prescription for tonifying Qi, strengthening the spleen, removing dampness, and arresting diarrhea, has shown broad clinical efficacy in digestive disorders.

Modular Synthesis of Heparin-Related Tetra-, Hexa- and Octasaccharides with Differential O-6 Protections: Programming for Regiodefined 6-O-Modifications

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Heparin and heparan sulphate (H/HS) are important members of the glycosaminoglycan family of sugars that regulate a substantial number of biological processes. Such biological promiscuity is underpinned by hetereogeneity in their molecular structure. The

RNAi-Mediated Silencing of Pgants Shows Core 1 O-Glycans Are Required for Pupation in Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Protein glycosylation is one of the most common and most important post-translational modifications. Despite the growing knowledge on N-glycosylation, the research on O-glycosylation is lagging behind.
