Analysis of extra virgin olive oils from stoned olives

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2004
AbstractThis paper focuses on comparing the main chemical characteristics of 16 fresh commercial samples of extra virgin olive oil obtained from four harvest years (1999–2002) and derived from both stoned and whole fruits. The qualitative and quantitative contents of minor polar compounds (MPCs) together with other reference analytical parameters ...

Effect of Olive Stoning on the Volatile and Phenolic Composition of Virgin Olive Oil

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2007
Olive stoning during the virgin olive oil (VOO) mechanical extraction process was studied to show the effect on the phenolic and volatile composition of the oil. To study the impact of the constitutive parts of the fruit in the composition of olive pastes during processing, the phenolic compounds and several enzymatic activities such as ...

The adsorptive properties of carbonised olive stones

Carbon, 1973
Abstract Olive stones were carbonised to 1120°K and activated in carbon dioxide at 1100°K to 20% burn-off. Adsorptive properties were measured by adsorption of nitrogen (77°K) and carbon dioxide (195°K, 273°K) using the Langmuir and Dubinin equations of adsorption to deduce effective surface areas. The extents of development, with activation of meso-

Adsorption of iron on crude olive stones

Industrial Crops and Products, 2010
The ability of crude olive stones, a residue of the olive-oil industry, for the adsorption of iron presentin the industrial wastewaters was studied. Olive stones were used directly and characterized by mer-curic porosimetry. The equilibrium adsorption capacity was higher when the particles size (from

Olive mill wastewater pretreatment by combination of filtration on olive stone filters and coagulation–flocculation

Environmental Technology, 2018
In the present study a new combined process, comprising filtration of raw olive mill wastewater (OMWW) on two successive olive stone (OS) filters followed by a coagulation-flocculation, was developed in order to perform an efficient pretreatment of OMWW. The results show that the use of OS filter leads to a higher removal of total suspended solids (TSS)

Torrefaction of Olive Stones in a Rotary Kiln

2013
This paper investigates the torrefaction of olive stones in a laboratory scale rotary furnace. The process was conducted at temperatures between 150-300ºC and residence times between 0 and 60 minutes. Product yields (gas, solids and condensable oils) were determined gravimetrically for each experimental condition.

Oliver Stone’s Improbable W.

2011
Moviemaker Oliver Stone has repeatedly drawn upon historical events and real people to inform his cinematic narratives. Salvador (1986) dealt with the El Salvador civil war in which the United States supported the right-wing military against peasant revolutionaries; the trilogy of Platoon (1986), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), and Heaven and Earth (

An American Tragedy: On Oliver Stone's Nixon

Film International, 2006
There have been a good many works of art based on the character and career of Richard Nixon more, I should guess, than about any other American president since Lincoln and among them are at least three items of major aesthetic significance:
