Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

A case-control study on the diagnostic role of Omega-3 fatty acid levels in erythrocyte membranes of critically ill patients

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study aimed to investigate the erythrocyte Omega-3 fatty acid index as a potential biomarker for clinical severity, nutritional status, and mortality risk in critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Comparative assessment of Omega-3 and CoQ10 as adjuncts to periodontal therapy and total antioxidant capacity of saliva in patients with chronic periodontitis: A double-blind, randomized clinical trial

open access: yesSaudi Dental Journal
Introduction: The dental community has shown interest in the potential of Omega-3 and coenzyme Q10 for reducing inflammation in the periodontium. These antioxidant agents may enhance the outcomes of non-surgical periodontal treatments.

Maternal mid-pregnancy long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid profile is associated with pregestational body mass index and neonatal anthropometric measures at birth among non-obese pregnancies: results from two Italian multicenter cohorts

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism
Background Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) are essential nutrients for feto-placental development. We aimed to evaluate the associations between maternal pregestational BMI, mid-pregnancy LC-PUFA status, and delivery outcomes in non ...
