Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

21. Cardiovascular disease risk attributed to blood fish oil (omega-3 fatty acid) levels differ significantly in Saudi Men and Women

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2015
Cardiovascular disease is a major health problem in the Saudi population. Fish consumption and blood fish oil levels have been linked to CHD risk in European, American, and Japanese populations.

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...

Measurement of the Omega-3 Index in Dried Blood Spots

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Laboratory Research, 2016
Background: The roles that the omega-3 fatty acids play in health and disease remains unclear. The conduct of epidemiological studies to explore this relationship can be facilitated by the use of dried blood spots (DBS) for sample collection and shipment. The Omega-3 Index [i.e.

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

Unsaturated fatty acids, omega-3 index and hospitalization in MISC

open access: yesProstaglandins, Leukotrienes and Essential Fatty Acids
The growing interest in Omega-3 fatty acids as diagnostic markers or new therapeutic approaches also for COVID-19 disease, led us to investigate the presence of potential correlations between Omega-3 fatty acids' levels in whole blood and days of hospitalization or admission to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in 51 children with MIS-C ...

Determinants of erythrocyte EPA+DHA, the omega‐3 index

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2007
Red blood cell omega‐3 fatty acid (FA) levels (the omega‐3 index, O3I) are inversely associated with increased risk for cardiovascular (CV) events and has been proposed as a new risk factor. The factors that determine the O3I are not well described. We collected demographic information and measured the O3I in 704 outpatients.

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...
