Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Comparison of Volumetric Analysis Methods for Machine Tools with Rotary Axes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Confidence in the ability of a production machine to meet manufacturing tolerances requires a full understanding of the accuracy of the machine. However, the definition of “the accuracy of the machine” is open to interpretation. Historically, this has

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Development of a Mobile Device for Odor Identification and Optimization of Its Measurement Protocol Based on the Free-Hand Measurement

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Practical applications of machine olfaction have been eagerly awaited. A free-hand measurement, in which a measurement device is manually exposed to sample odors, is expected to be a key technology to realize practical machine olfaction.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Research on non-contact length measurement of elongated pins at processing worksites

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing
Currently, measurement of long and thin objects is done by the contact method. However, some problems such as long measurement time including fixing the gauge and the object to be measured and the effects of buckling and other problems caused by contact ...

Kinematics Error Compensation for a Surface Measurement Probe on an Ultra-Precision Turning Machine

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
In order to enhance the measurement availability for manufacturing applications, on-machine surface measurement (OMSM) is integrated onto the machine tools, which avoids the errors caused by re-positioning workpieces and utilizes the machine axes to ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Validation of the measurement performance of a three-dimensional vision sensor by means of a coordinate measuring machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The results of the activity carried out to verify the measurement performance of an optical three-dimensional sensor based on the projection of structured light are presented in this paper.
