Road surface influence on tyre/road rolling resistance [PDF]
Rolling resistance is a form of energy loss caused by the interaction between a rolling tyre and the road surface. This functional property of road surfaces and also of tyres is one of the most important from both an economical and environmental point of

Final report on supplementary comparison EURAMET.EM-S32: Comparison of resistance standards at 1 TΩ and 100 TΩ [PDF]
Resistance standards with values in the TΩ range play an important role in electrical instrumentation. The calibration of such standards is, thus, a service offered by many metrology institutes.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is widely considered to be driven by antimicrobial consumption through within-host selection. However, whether this mechanism adequately explains population-level patterns of resistance in invasive infections ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Public health action plan to combat antimicrobial resistance [PDF]
In 2001, the Task Force developed an initial Action Plan, outlining specific issues, goals, and actions important for addressing the problem of AR. This document, entitled A Public Health Action Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance, Part I: Domestic ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Large-scale structure of brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) populations in England: effects on rodenticide resistance [PDF]
The brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) is a relatively recent (

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Progress towards implementation of a public health action plan to combat antimicrobial resistance [PDF]
Since 2002, the Interagency Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance has released an annual report on the progress towards implementation of the 2001 Action Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance.
