A Review of Phage Therapy for Aquaculture Applications: Efficacy, Health Ramifications and Research Challenges

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, EarlyView.
Bacteriophage therapy is characterised by numerous advantages, facilitating its diverse aquaculture application and efficacy as an antibiotic alternative mitigating the spread of antimicrobial‐resistant pathogens. Contributing to the modern reappraisal of the aquaculture application of bacteriophage therapy, challenges impeding its widespread ...

Rayons de la nageoire pectorale comme caractère approprié pour contrôler les souches de truite d'élevage

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 1991

A Conceptual Framework and Methods for Studying the Connectivity of Fishes

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Connectivity is a multifaceted concept that has important implications for the management and conservation of marine and freshwater fishes. We developed a conceptual framework that encompasses multiple, interrelated categories of connectedness, including landscape (e.g., structural, functional) connectivity and ecological (e.g., trophic ...

FEEDING AND GROWTH EFFICIENCY INDICES OF RAINBOW TROUT (ONCORHYNCHUS MYKISS) DURING DEPRIVATION AND RE-FEEDING PERIODS

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2008
We studied effects of different feeding deprivation periods on the growth and feed utilization indices of rainbow trout. The study lasted for eight weeks.

Effect of dietary protein levels on growth performance, hematological profile and biochemical composition of fingerlings rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss reared in Indian himalayan region

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2020
A 10-week feeding trial was undertaken to determine the optimum dietary protein requirement of fingerling rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Six casein-gelatin based isocaloric (20.90 kJ 100 g−1, gross energy) diets containing graded levels of dietary ...

Morphometric and External Injury Characterization of Rainbow Trout (O. mykiss) Used for Stocking in the Alpine River Inn (Bavaria, Germany)

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stocking fish is a common practice in fisheries management, particularly for species of high conservation value or economic importance. Despite its widespread use, systematic evaluation of fish stockings remains scarce. This includes non‐native species such as rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), which are intensively stocked into European ...

Effects of the Invasive Round Goby on Swedish Recreational Fishing Values

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The round goby, an invasive fish from the Black and Caspian Seas, has spread to Swedish waters, threatening recreational fisheries. We modeled impacts on the future recreational fishery in Sweden using data from a recreational fishing survey, and estimated effects of the round goby on other fish species. Values attached to recreational fishing

The lethal concentration (LC50) of Zataria multiflora essential oil in fries of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2011
This research was carried out to determine LC50 for Zataria multiflora essential oil in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fries at 96 hours. In the process, we used the static O.E.C.D method for 180 rainbow trout fries weighing 5±1 grams in five ...

Acute freshwater CO2 exposure does not impair seawater transfer in three different sizes of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) subjected to different photoperiod manipulations

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract There is a growing interest in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) aquaculture to extend the time fish are reared in freshwater (FW) recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), producing larger FW salmon that can then be induced to undergo smoltification before transfer into marine net pens for grow‐out and harvest.
