Optical echo in photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The dynamics of photonic wavepacket in the effective oscillator potential is studied. The oscillator potential is constructed on a base of one dimensional photonic crystal with a period of unit cell adiabatically varied in space.

Trapped atoms in one-dimensional photonic crystals

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We describe one-dimensional photonic crystals that support a guided mode suitable for atom trapping within a unit cell, as well as a second probe mode with strong atom-photon interactions. A new hybrid trap is analyzed that combines optical and Casimir-Polder forces to form stable traps for neutral atoms in dielectric nanostructures. By suitable design

Tamm-plasmon-polariton biosensor based on one-dimensional topological photonic crystal

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Tamm-plasmon-polariton (TPP) has strong light absorption and polarization-independence, shows potential application in the optical biosensors. However, with the weak field confinement of the distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), the sensitivity enhancement ...

One-dimensional photonic crystals with cylindrical geometry

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
A one-dimensional photonic crystal (1DPC) consisting of a stack of alternate TiO(2) and Al(2)O(3) layers is deposited on the side wall of a glass rod by Atomic Layer Deposition. The stack is designed to sustain TE-polarized Bloch Surface Waves (BSW) in the visible spectrum at wavelengths shorter than 650 nm.

Annular one-dimensional photonic crystals for salinity sensing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
AbstractThe use of annular one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystals (PCs) for salinity sensing is studied in this research. Annular 1D-PCs provide small and integrated structures that facilitate the creation of portable and miniaturized sensor equipment appropriate for field use.

Semi-analytic method for slow light photonic crystal waveguide design

open access: yes, 2012
We present a semi-analytic method to calculate the dispersion curves and the group velocity of photonic crystal waveguide modes in two-dimensional geometries.

One-dimensional parabolic-beam photonic crystal laser

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We report one-dimensional (1-D) parabolic-beam photonic crystal (PhC) lasers in which the width of the PhC slab waveguide is parabolically tapered. A few high-Q resonant modes are confirmed in the vicinity of the tapered region where Gaussian-shaped photonic well is formed.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
