Pathways Linking Socioeconomic Circumstances to Childhood Dental Caries: The Mediating Role of Parenting and Oral Health Behaviours Before and After Childsmile Implementation

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To determine the extent that parenting styles and oral health behaviours mediate the relationship between socioeconomic circumstances (SEC) and childhood dental caries experience: pre−/post‐national roll‐out in 2011 of Childsmile, the child oral health improvement programme for Scotland.

On the Crack Characteristic Signal From an Open-Ended Coaxial Probe

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2014
Detection of surface-breaking cracks in metals is an important issue in many industries (e.g., transportation, aerospace, nuclear). Commonly, eddy current and ultrasonic techniques are used for this purpose. In recent years, a significant amount of work has also been conducted using microwave methods.

Dielectric Characterization of Biological Samples by Using an Open-ended Coaxial Probe

open access: yes2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
The present work proposes the use of a miniaturized open-ended coaxial probe to perform the detection of normal and malignant biological tissues, typically resulting from an excisional biopsy. The system has been numerically designed by analyzing a biological specimen having spherical shape and by varying its diameter, accordingly.

Measurement of membrane conductivities using an open-ended coaxial probe

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 1995
In this article, we describe the use of an open-ended coaxial probe to measure the conductivity of an ionic membrane. The technique is simple and it allows measurements to be made quickly. Control of physical parameters, such as the water content of the membrane, is easily achieved as access is only required to one side of the membrane.
