Open-Ended Coaxial Line Probes With Negative Permittivity Materials

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2011
This work presents analysis of the behavior of open-ended coaxial near-field probes in the presence of e-negative material. The effect of using negative material layers on the sensitivity is studied. It is shown that optimal conditions related to the thickness and constitutive parameters of the negative medium give rise to significant enhancement in ...

A new technique for measuring electromagnetic properties of material with an open-ended coaxial probe

Proceedings of 1997 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, 2002
A new technique, namely, the frequency-varying method is proposed for simultaneous measurement of complex permittivity and permeability of materials with an open-ended coaxial probe. Its feasibility was validated by preliminary broadband experimental results on microwave absorbing material.

Analysis of an open-ended coaxial probe measurement system for magnetic materials

2011 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications, 2011
This paper presents influence of parameters of an open-ended coaxial probe measurement system on magnetic materials. A detailed analysis is done for magnetic fluids and solid magnetic materials. Analysis is done by full-wave model of an open-ended coaxial probe measurement system.

Evaluation of modelling routines for on-line implementation of the open-ended coaxial probe

Measurement Science and Technology, 1998
Three different models giving the relationship between the complex reflection coefficient and the complex permittivity have been evaluated for use with an open-ended coaxial probe in an on-line measurement system: Cole's bilinear model (model 1) and the more sophisticated models of Marsland and Evans (model 2) and Marcuvitz (model 3).

Effects of mechanical flaws in open-ended coaxial probes for dielectric spectroscopy

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2002
A detailed study of dielectric properties of breast tissue in the 0.1 to 20 GHz frequency range currently under way uses open-ended teflon coaxial probes as sensors. This letter quantifies the effects of small mechanical imperfections at the probe aperture on the measured reflection coefficient. The mechanical flaws in the probe can lead to significant
