Open and distance learning for basic education in South Asia: its potential for hard to reach children and children in conflict and disaster areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This is the main report in a UNICEF funded project which explores the ways in which, across South Asia, various forms of open and distance learning could be developed to better meet the needs of marginalised children and those affected by natural ...

New ways of mediating learning: Investigating the implications of adopting Open Educational Resources for tertiary education at an institution in the United Kingdom as compared to one in South Africa

open access: yes, 2008
Access to education is not freely available to all. Open Educational Resources (OERs) have the potential to change the playing field in terms of an individual's right to education.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

A Theoretical Framework on Open and Distance Learning

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2015
AbstractMany studies have been carried out targeting Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and related fields. Thanks to the rapid development in technology, which can be a common ground for many fields, interdisciplinary studies among various fields have gained importance resulting in integration of different concepts both into ODL and other fields.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.
