Evaluation of speech intelligibility in open-plan offices

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceIn open-plan offices, ambient noise made of intelligible conversations is generally perceived as one of the most important annoyance for tasks requiring concentration efforts.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Does job control contribute to differences in physician-certified sickness absence across office concepts? A mediation analysis in a nationally representative sample

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health
OBJECTIVES: Several studies have found higher sickness absence in shared and open workspaces than in private offices, but little is known about why these differences occur.

Enhancing Adaptive Acoustic Comfort in Open-Plan Offices Through Green Window Views and Auditory Biophilic Elements

open access: yesBuildings
Naturally ventilated office spaces present a dual challenge: open windows are sources of thermal comfort and acoustic disturbances. Despite growing interest in adaptive comfort frameworks, the acoustic adaptation effects specific to naturally ventilated ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Perceived Speech Privacy in Computer Simulated Open-plan Offices

open access: yes, 2005
In open plan offices the lack of speech privacy between the workstations is one of the major acoustic problems. Improving the speech privacy in an open plan design is therefore the main concern for a successful open plan environment.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Coworking Spaces – A Source for Developing Creative Business [PDF]

open access: yesOvidius University Annals: Economic Sciences Series, 2019
The effects of information technology have allowed people to choose between working at the firm's office, home office or in collaborative spaces, in open plan office environments, where they work alongside other non-affiliated professionals for a monthly

Designing work: a study of collaboration and concentration in open-plan offices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This article looks at the design of open-plan offices, particularly in relation to the impact of spatial design on different work-modes. It examines the history of the open-plan office, looking at how the open-plan workplace has evolved. It reports the findings of a survey on office design of 150 office workers across multiple industry sectors, job ...
