Scheduling Warehouse Operations

1990
Perhaps the biggest drain on productivity in most warehouses is the “hurry up and wait” syndrome popularly associated with the military. One example is the unloading of a truckload of floor-loaded bags of product at a warehouse. There are at least three alternative loading methods.

ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS FOR SCHEDULED OPERATIVE PROCEDURES

Infectious Disease Clinics of North America, 1992
As a result of numerous trials during the past two decades addressing antibiotic prophylaxis for surgical procedures, it has been established that appropriately administered antibiotic prophylaxis reduces the risk of postoperative infection by about 50% when compared with comparable untreated patients.

Scheduling of Drawbridge Operations

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1977
A procedure for determining the operational method and schedule for a drawbridge is presented. The procedure is applied to a location with conflicting recreational traffic flows, both waterborne and vehicular. Many aspects of the drawbridge scheduling process are related to an analogous problem: timing vehicular traffic signals.

Scheduling Drayage Operations in Synchromodal Transport

2017
We study the problem of scheduling drayage operations in synchromodal transport. Besides the usual decisions to time the pick-up and delivery of containers, and to route the vehicles that transport them, synchromodal transport includes the assignment of terminals for empty and loaded containers.

Creating an Optimal Operating Room Schedule

AORN Journal, 2005
SCHEDULING IN THE OR suite is a particularly daunting task for many surgical services managers. CREATING AN OPTIMAL OR schedule requires looking at constraining factors as well as historical data. THIS ARTICLE presents one solution to creating an OR schedule that results in increased use of the OR suite and better profitability.

A heuristic for scheduling problems, especially for scheduling farm operations

European Journal of Operational Research, 1988
To obtain a schedule for farm operations with techniques like linear programming or dynamic programming is a time-consuming task. It asks for a lot of computer-memory and therefore, only small problems can be solved. But, practice asks for better solvers which can be used for large problems.

Operational Planning and Scheduling

1988
In the optimal power flow (OPF) problem the optimization process is static. The cost of production is an instantaneous function of demands. Since the load varies on a continuous basis with fairly predictable patterns, optimization over certain time ranges becomes necessary for some time-dependent functions.
