Automated High-Throughput Microchannel Assays for Cell Biology: Operational Optimization and Characterization [PDF]
Screening biological readouts in cell culture are increasing in frequency and throughput. In such assays, cell types may be rare and reagents or compounds may be expensive often resulting in a reduced number of conditions and/or replicates. “Tubeless” microfluidics offers a method to reduce this burden, as has been previously shown. In addition the In-

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Data management in systems biology I - Overview and bibliography [PDF]
Large systems biology projects can encompass several workgroups often located in different countries. An overview about existing data standards in systems biology and the management, storage, exchange and integration of the generated data in large distributed research projects is given, the pros and cons of the different approaches are illustrated from

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

Clinical utility of cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers measured by LUMIPULSE® system
Abstract Objectives Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are well‐established in research settings, but their use in routine clinical practice remains a largely unexploited potential. Here, we examined the relationship between CSF biomarkers, measured by a fully automated immunoassay platform, and brain β‐amyloid (Aβ ...

A High-Order Kernel Method for Diffusion and Reaction-Diffusion Equations on Surfaces [PDF]
In this paper we present a high-order kernel method for numerically solving diffusion and reaction-diffusion partial differential equations (PDEs) on smooth, closed surfaces embedded in $\mathbb{R}^d$. For two-dimensional surfaces embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$, these types of problems have received growing interest in biology, chemistry, and computer ...
