The Role of Inflammation in Migraine Headaches: A Review

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2025.
Inflammation plays a crucial role in the onset and intensity of both migraine headache symptoms and attacks. Pro‐inflammatory neurotransmitters and mediators released from neural cells and tissues that contributes to increase in nitric oxide, increase in glutamate, alterations in serotonin and dopamine levels and pain perception are involved in ...

Shifted Balance Between Ventral Striatal Prodynorphin and Proenkephalin Biases Development of Cocaine Place Avoidance

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 30, Issue 7, July 2025.
We examined the optimum parameters for producing conditioned place avoidance (CPA) to the acutely aversive effects of cocaine treatment. We discovered that individual differences, rather than cocaine dose, apparatus type, stimulus modality or conditioning time, were important for expression of cocaine CPA.

Endotypes in Immune Mediated Drug Reactions: Present and Future of Relevant Biomarkers. An EAACI Task Force Report

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 80, Issue 7, Page 1831-1847, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Drug‐induced immune reactions are an important burden for patients and health systems. They can be classified into immediate‐drug hypersensitivity reactions (IDHRs) and delayed‐DHRs (DDHRs) based on their phenotype. Drugs do not always behave as allergens and need to bind to proteins, forming adducts.

Towards the convergent therapeutic potential of G protein‐coupled receptors in autism spectrum disorders

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 14, Page 3044-3067, July 2025.
Abstract Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are diagnosed in 1/100 children worldwide, based on two core symptoms: deficits in social interaction and communication, and stereotyped behaviours. G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest family of cell‐surface receptors that transduce extracellular signals to convergent intracellular signalling ...

Microscopy and spectroscopy approaches to study GPCR structure and function

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 14, Page 3090-3108, July 2025.
Abstract The GPCR signalling cascade is a key pathway responsible for the signal transduction of a multitude of physical and chemical stimuli, including light, odorants, neurotransmitters and hormones. Understanding the structural and functional properties of the GPCR cascade requires direct observation of signalling processes in high spatial and ...
