Optic Nerve Atrophy in Heroin Intoxication

open access: yesOftalʹmologiâ, 2020
Drug dependence is one of important social problems in modern society. It became more actual because of the high morbidity in young working-age patients. The central nervous system is the main target for psychoactive substances.

Neuro-Ophthalmologic Variability in Presentation of Genetically Confirmed Wolfram Syndrome: A Case Series and Review

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2023
Wolfram syndrome is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the genes WFS1 or CISD2. Clinically, the classic phenotype is composed of optic atrophy, diabetes mellitus type 1, diabetes insipidus, and deafness.

A Novel KCNA1 Variant in a Patient With Tremor and Autism Spectrum Disorder Causes Mixed LOF/GOF Defects of Kv1.1 Channels

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Variants in KCNA1, encoding the Kv1.1 potassium channel, cause neurological disorders including episodic ataxia and developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. We identified a novel KCNA1 variant (A401T) in a 16‐year‐old patient with autism spectrum disorder, borderline intellectual disability, and tremor, without episodic ataxia or epilepsy ...

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
