A novel mutation of AFG3L2 might cause dominant optic atrophy in patients with mild intellectual disability

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2015
Dominant optic neuropathies causing fiber loss in the optic nerve are among the most frequent inherited mitochondrial diseases. In most genetically resolved cases, the disease is associated to a mutation in OPA1, which encodes an inner mitochondrial ...

Kearns-Sayre syndrome with optic nerve atrophy phenotype: A possible biological and clinical concurrence of two mutations?

open access: yesJournal of Biological Research, 2022
The authors report about the association of progressive external ophthalmoplegia, atypical pigmentary retinopathy, ataxia phenotype with onset in first months of life (Kearns-Sayre syndrome) and with optic nerve atrophy and deafness. The localization of

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)
