Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Optic pathway measurements on MRI: normal values in the pediatric population

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine
Background Different pathologies can affect the optic pathway structures in children, and early detection of these pathologies requires knowledge of their normal measurements.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Applied Fiber Optic Measurement for Geohydraulic Engineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Engineers have long sought the possibility of measuring parameters such as temperature and pressure continuously in the underground with high precision, high spatial resolution and high band width of parameters. Distributed fibre optic measurement offers

Trans-synaptic degeneration in the optic pathway. A study in clinically isolated syndrome and early relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis with or without optic neuritis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Increasing evidence suggest that neuronal damage is an early and diffuse feature of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) pathology. Analysis of the optic pathway may help to clarify the mechanisms involved in grey matter damage in MS.

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Neuroanatomical Reconstruction of the Canine Visual Pathway Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroanatomy, 2020
The first anatomical atlas of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of white matter pathways in the canine brain was published in 2013; however, the anatomical orientation of the entire visual pathway in the canine brain, from the retina to the cortex, has not ...

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Optimized in vivo two-photon imaging reveals the essential role of the contralateral eye in functional optic nerve regeneration in zebrafish larvae

open access: yesEye and Vision
Background The visual pathway, consisting of the eye, optic nerve, and brain, serves as a valuable model for studying neural regeneration. The exceptional regenerative capacity of the zebrafish visual system enables detailed investigation of neural ...
