Optic nerve injury alters basic fibroblast growth factor localization in the retina and optic tract

open access: yes, 2018
Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is thought to be a trophic factor for several classes of neurons. Its distribution changes in response to cortical neural injury.

Longitudinal Morphomolecular Monitoring of Head and Neck Carcinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A miniaturized endoscopic probe that integrates Raman spectroscopy and optical coherence tomography, enabling simultaneous molecular and structural imaging of living tissue, was developed. Applied longitudinally in a mouse model of head and neck cancer, the system tracks disease progression from precancerous lesions to invasive cancer.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Preoperative radiological compression features and their relationship with pre- and postoperative visual field defects in pituitary macroadenomas: a retrospective cohort from the neuro-ophthalmological clinic

open access: yesFrontiers in Ophthalmology
PurposeThe study aimed to correlate preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics with pre- and postoperative visual field deficits (VFDs) in patients with non-functioning pituitary macroadenoma (NFMA).MethodsThis retrospective cohort ...

Traumatic Optic Tract Syndrome with a Decade-Old Head Trauma

open access: yes, 2019
Lesions of the optic tract lead to subtle clinical features that may be under-recognized. Optic tract syndrome is characterized by a triad of a contralateral relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD), contralateral homonymous hemianopia and contralateral

Renal Clearable Luminogenic Reporter for Ultrasensitive Influenza Virus Imaging and Efficient Antiviral Therapies Monitoring in Living Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A viral luminogenic reporter with chemiluminescence/fluorescence dual‐response and efficient renal clearance was developed for non‐invasive imaging and urinalysis of H1N1 virus protease, allowing for remote detection of H1N1 virus infections and monitoring of antiviral therapeutic efficacy in living mice.
