Polarization-Independent Optical Injection Locking

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
A pluggable system making optical injection locking independent of the incoming signal's polarization-state is proposed and experimentally verified to maintain stable locking for random polarizations without performance loss in carrier recovery for coherent optical communications.

Optically Injected Spin Currents in Semiconductors

Physical Review Letters, 2000
We show that quantum interference of one and two photon absorption from a two color field allows one to optically inject ballistic spin currents in unbiased semiconductors. The spin currents can be generated with or without an accompanying electrical current and can be controlled using the relative phase of the two colors.

A light adjustable lens with injectable optics

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2006
The light adjustable lens (LAL) is an innovative intraocular lens optic composed of partially polymerized macromers with an appropriately bonded photosensitizer. The injectable technology and multifocality associated with the LAL can produce precise refractive correction and, it is hoped, the type of accommodative range that is taken for granted during

On the predictability of optical rogue waves in a semiconductor laser with optical injection

2017 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2017
Extreme events and rogue waves are ubiquitous in complex systems [1] and a lot of efforts are nowadays focused in developing reliable analysis techniques for their detection and prediction [2]. Laser systems displaying extreme pulses in their output intensity are ideal candidates for performing laboratory controlled experiments that allow testing novel

Predictability of Optical Rogue Waves in Optically Injected Semiconductor Lasers

Frontiers in Optics 2016, 2016
The predictability of ultra-high pulses emitted by optically injected semiconductor lasers is studied by using symbolic time-series analysis. Pulse patterns that are likely to occur before the rogue wave are identified.

Optical Injection Effects in Nanolasers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2016
The response of nanolasers subject to optical injection has been analyzed. Calculations have been performed using rate equations, which include the Purcell cavity-enhanced spontaneous emission factor F and the spontaneous emission coupling factor I².

Optical injection processes in semiconductors

Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures, 2012
Abstract We present a theoretical review and band structure calculations of optical injection processes in semiconductors. The study of these processes in bulk materials provides a benchmark and reference for their future applications in quantum wells and other nanostructures.

Optical waveguiding in semiconductor injection lasers and integrated optics

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 1977
Weak perturbations from various refractive index distributions have been introduced into the central layer of the three layered dielectric slab optical waveguide model and solutions of the wave equation in this guide for TE modes have been compared with the results published for the unperturbed mode.

Dynamics of nanolasers subject to optical injection and optical feedback

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
This paper reports theoretical results which delineate a range of nonlinear dynamical behaviours which arise in nanolasers subject to external optical influences. Firstly attention will be given to the impact of external optical feedback on nanolasers.

Integral optical system design of injection molded optics

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Injection molded optics are frequently applied in many high volume applications. Bar code scanners, CD / DVD systems, CMOS cameras are a few examples. In all of these applications cost effective and fast design cycles are essential. At Philips High Tech Plastics we developed a design system that touches on all different aspects of the system design ...
