Frequency Entrainment in Optically Injected Semiconductor Lasers

Physical Review Letters, 1997
We theoretically predict and experimentally demonstrate the phenomenon of frequency entrainment in optically injected semiconductor lasers. The laser exhibits nonlinear subharmonic and ultraharmonic resonances for appropriate values of its frequency detuning from the externally injected signal.

Tori and their bifurcations in an optically injected semiconductor laser

Optics Communications, 1998
We show that there is motion on a torus in the single-mode rate equations of a diode laser subject to weak optical injection. It occurs in the transition from relaxation oscillations to unlocked dynamics and corresponds to a relaxation oscillation whose amplitude is modulated.

Optical spin injection in CuGaSe2∕GaAs films

Applied Physics Letters, 2006
We have investigated polarization-resolved photoluminescence in epitaxially grown CuGaSe2∕GaAs(001) films. Spin-polarized excitons are optically excited both below and above the characteristic crystal field splitting of the chalcopyrite. At low temperatures, a large exciton spin polarization of 35% is measured under resonant pumping but this is reduced

Instability in injected-laser and optical-bistable systems

Physical Review A, 1988
An analytical function is derived which can serve as a criterion of the instability boundary of both optical-bistable (OB) systems and laser systems with an injected coherent signal (LIS). By means of the criterion, we analyze, in various asymptotic limits, the instability regions of OB and LIS in the parameter space.

Optic Neuropathy Following Retrobulbar Injection: A Review

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2014
A retrobulbar block is a regional anesthetic nerve block in the retrobulbar space. Optic neuropathy following retrobulbar injection is a well-recognized and rare complication of the procedure with an unknown incidence. This article reviews the relevant literature regarding vision loss following this procedure. Mechanisms of injury to the optic nerve as

Optical feedback effects in cw injection lasers

Applied Optics, 1978
A laser diode can simultaneously function as a light source and detector of its own radiation. The addition of a reflecting surface external to the laser produces changes in the laser output power, the current at constant voltage, and the voltage drop across the laser at constant current.

Optical Injection of Gold Nanoparticles into Living Cells

Nano Letters, 2014
The controlled injection of nanoscopic objects into living cells with light offers promising prospects for the development of novel molecular delivery strategies or intracellular biosensor applications. Here, we show that single gold nanoparticles from solution can be patterned on the surface of living cells with a continuous wave laser beam.

Injection Molding Of Optical Components

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
Injection molding of optical components on a production basis began in 1980. Development took place from the mid to late seventies with the potentially high volume defense contracts candidates for injection molding. Plastic optics are lower cost and lighter weight than optical glass.
