A nonferrite X-band quasi-optical isolator is presented. The isolator consists of six cascaded printed gratings loaded with lumped elements and exhibits less than 2-dB insertion loss. The isolator is designed for protection and stabilization of quasi-optical amplifiers.

What is — and what is not — an optical isolator
Nature Photonics, 2013The quest for on-chip optical isolators has recently spawned many new isolator structures. However, there has been some confusion about the requirement of nonreciprocity. Here, we review the essential characteristics of an isolator.

Optical isolators for integrated optics
2008 International Nano-Optoelectronics Workshop, 2008Waveguide optical isolators suitable for integrated optics are described, which include a nonreciprocal loss isolator and an interferometric one. A surface activated bonding technique is effective for incorporating a magneto-optic effect in a semiconductor waveguide.

Isolated optic nerve sarcoidosis.
Sarcoidosis, vasculitis, and diffuse lung diseases : official journal of WASOG, 2017Objective: To report three cases of sarcoidosis confined to the optic nerve. Methods: Chart review of clinical, laboratory, imaging, and optic nerve biopsy findings and a review of the literature. Results: All three cases presented with progressive visual loss and showed enhancement of the intraorbital optic nerve on magnetic resonance imaging.

This paper describes a compact Faraday rotation isolator using terbium aluminum garnet (TAG) as the Faraday rotation material and small high field permanent magnets made of copper-rare earth alloys. The nominal isolation is 26 dB with a 0.4-dB forward loss.

Flow isolation in optical networks
2011 18th IEEE Workshop on Local & Metropolitan Area Networks (LANMAN), 2011We address the issue of ensuring the integrity and privacy of communications in optical networks. To this end, we extend the traffic grooming concept to encompass flow isolation considerations through a multi-class traffic model. We develop, solve, and compare ILP formulations that ensure that only traffic components within the same class are groomed ...

Isolated metastasis to the optic nerve
Survey of Ophthalmology, 1981A case of isolated optic nerve metastasis from breast carcinoma is described. Intraocular tumor was discovered three months following a radical mastectomy and was confined to the optic nerve head and distal optic nerve. Following X-irradiation treatment, central retinal vascular occlusion, rubeosis, and neovascular glaucoma developed during the fifteen
