This paper presents a new method for measuring the min isolation of polarization-independent free-space isolators. The light source in the scheme of conventional isolation measurement has been improved in this method. This method is easy to operate, there is no need to comfirm that the light source and the optical path of isolator are coaxial strictly.

Design of a magneto-optic slab isolator for integrated optics

The problem of a nonreciprocal phase shifter comprising a magneto-optic slab is formulated using scaled parameters. Nonreciprocity is attributed to polarization effects in TM modes propagating in asymmetric waveguides under an applied external magnetic field. Simple design guidelines are presented for an isolator that uses these propagation effects.
