Isolated optic nerve pseudotumour

Australasian Radiology, 2000
SUMMARYIsolated optic nerve involvement by the idiopathic inflammatory process is a rare finding and very few reports are available. Here a case of an isolated optic nerve inflammatory pseudotumour presenting with gradually progressive unilateral loss of vision is described.

Optically powered isolated sensors

Proceedings Electronic Technology Directions to the Year 2000, 2002
The design and performance of an optically powered and isolated sensor system for inaccessible locations is described. Target applications involve sensing in hostile environments such as those experienced in high voltage power systems. A micropowered conventional transducer, serial 12-bit ADC, and LED transmitter are powered by a small photocell array ...

Waveguide Optical Isolators for Integrated Optics

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2012
Waveguide optical isolators are investigated for an application to integrated optics. A nonreciprocal loss shift isolator has the advantage of high compatibility with optical active devices. The interferometric waveguide optical isolator that uses nonreciprocal phase shift brought about by the first-order magneto-optic effect is applicable to a variety

Optical isolators for optical communication systems

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part II: Electronics), 1991
AbstractIn large‐capacity, high‐speed and long‐distance optical communication systems, an optical isolator is one of the key devices for stable laser diode operation. This paper discusses first the required characteristics of an optical isolator, and then features of its various types based on connection with surrounding optical circuit are described ...

Optical isolator for semiconductor lasers

Applied Optics, 1980
An optical isolator for semiconductor lasers, consisting of a polarizer and a quarterwave plate, was investigated experimentally. It was assembled in a compact laser-to-fiber coupling module. Experiment showed forward loss of 1.15 dB, backward loss of 24.8 dB, and rotative tolerance of 2.4 deg for 1 dB down. The length of the module is 43.2 mm.

Waveguide Optical Isolators for Integrated Optics

Asia Optical Fiber Communication and Optoelectronic Exposition and Conference, 2008
Several approaches to realize the isolator integratable with active devices are described. The surface activated direct bonding technique is addressed as a key technology for integrating a magneto-optic material in semiconductor based photonic circuits.

Semiconductor optical isolators for integrated optics

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
Semiconductor optical isolators for integrated optics are presented. The requirements and demands for semiconductor optical isolators which can be monolithically integrated with semiconductor lasers and waveguide are discussed. Fundamental theories of magneto-optic effect in optical waveguides including magnetic materials are shown and transverse ...

Acousto-optic isolator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1987
An acousto-optic isolator for a semiconductor laser diode comprises a Fabry-Perot resonator tuned to the laser optical frequency f o followed by an acousto-optic Bragg diffraction device utilizing surface acoustic waves of frequency f a launched from a transducer. Light focussed by a lens to the load has a resultant frequency f o +f a .

Plastic optical isolator

Optics Communications, 1991
Abstract A plastic optical isolator was constructed for the blue light region and tested at the 488-nm line of an argon laser for the first time. As the Faraday rotator of the isolator, poly-α-methylstyrene rods were placed in the magnetic field of five permanent magnets. This plastic isolator had about 15 dB isolation and about 5 dB insertion loss.
