Preparation of a Periodic Polystyrene Nanosphere Array Using the Dip-Drop Method with Post-deposition Etching and Its Application of Improving Light Extraction Efficiency of InGaN/GaN LEDs

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
In this study, we synthesized a periodic polystyrene nanosphere (PS NS) array using the dip-drop method with post-deposition etching to improve the light extraction efficiency (LEE) of InGaN/GaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

Observation of second-harmonic generation induced by pure spin currents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Extensive efforts are currently being devoted to developing a new electronic technology, called spintronics, where the spin of electrons is explored to carry information. [1,2] Several techniques have been developed to generate pure spin currents in many

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Contact-separation-induced self-recoverable mechanoluminescence of CaF2:Tb3+/PDMS elastomer

open access: yesNature Communications
Centrosymmetric-oxide/polydimethylsiloxane elastomers emit ultra-strong non-pre-irradiation mechanoluminescence under stress and are considered one of the most ideal mechanoluminescence materials.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Growth of Monolayer MoS2 Flakes via Close Proximity Re-Evaporation

open access: yesNanomaterials
We report a two-step growth process of MoS2 nanoflakes using a low-pressure chemical vapor deposition technique. In the first step, a MoS2 layer was synthesized on a c-plane sapphire substrate.

Gradients of Orientation, Composition, and Hydration of Proteins for Efficient Light Collection by the Cornea of the Horseshoe Crab

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
The lateral eyes of the horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus, are the largest compound eyes within recent Arthropoda. The cornea of these eyes contains hundreds of inward projecting elongated cuticular cones and concentrate light onto proximal ...
