Partial Coherence and Optical Vortices
Optical vortices are singularities in phase fronts of optical beams. They are characterized by a dark core in the center and by a helical wave front.

ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

A genome‐wide microRNA CRISPR screen identifies miR‐18a as a master regulator of cross‐resistance in melanoma. Loss of miR‐18a activates the AJUBA–YAP/Hippo axis to confer BRAFi resistance and enhances THBS1–CD47 interaction to impair CD8+ T cell immunity. hnRNP A1 is identified as an upstream regulator of miR‐18a processing.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Structuring Light for Investigating Optical Vortices
Vortices are well known in our world: tornadoes, hurricanes, and quickly stirred iced tea all demonstrate the vortex phenomenon. In addition to these classical fluids, vortices exist in laser light.

Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Phase singularities and coherence vortices in linear optical systems
It is demonstrated for a time-invariant linear optical system that there exists a definite connection between the optical vortices (phase singularities of the field amplitude) which appear when it is illuminated by spatially coherent light and the ...

Pharmaceutical diversity acts as an independent driver of antibiotic resistance in soil invertebrates. While bulk soil remains unaffected, the collembolan gut microbiome exhibits significant resistance gene enrichment under complex chemical exposure and diurnal warming.
