Optical Control through Light Transmission [PDF]

open access: yesOptics and Photonics News, 2011
The simple action of passing laser light through an optically transparent system may enable researchers to control a number of mechanical and optoelectronic processes. These novel interactions of light present an array of useful applications in optical switching, optical binding and fluorescence imaging.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Residual channel attention based sample adaptation few-shot learning for hyperspectral image classification

open access: yesScientific Reports
Few-shot learning (FSL) uses prior knowledge and supervised experience to effectively classify hyperspectral images (HSIs), thereby reducing the cost of large numbers of labeled samples.

Propagation Properties of Partially Coherent Flat-Topped Beam Rectangular Arrays in Plasma and Atmospheric Turbulence

open access: yesPhotonics
Propagation properties represent a critical aspect of laser beams utilized in free space optical (FSO) communications. We examined the evolution characteristics of the electric field associated with partially coherent flat-topped beam rectangular arrays ...

Dielectric broadband meta-vector-polarizers based on nematic liquid crystal

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2017
Polarizer, as an indispensable optical element, has been widely used in various optical systems, which splits a beam into two beams of orthogonal linear polarizations. Due to the appearance of the vector optical field (VOF) and its unique properties, the

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Compound Vector Light Generator Based on a Metasurface

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
In view of wide applications of vector light with a non-uniform polarization state, a compound vector light generator is proposed to generate compound vector light. One compound vector light contains two or more non-uniform polarization modes and several

Fiber amplification of radially and azimuthally polarized laser light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The results on amplifying either radially or azimuthally polarized light with a fiber amplifier are presented. Experimental results reveal that more than 85% polarization purity can be retained at the output even with 40dB amplification, and that ...
