Image recognition method of cashmere and wool based on SVM-RFE selection with three types of features

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal
Cashmere and wool fibers are important raw materials in the textile industry, but their similar morphological structures make accurate distinctions challenging.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Mechanical Fatigue Test of Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) with Aramid Nida-Core Under Cyclic Bending

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2020
The selection of a composite material for any application will involve selection of reinforcing fibre and matrix, and their fractional volume in the resulting material.

Managing economic and virtual economic capital within financial conglomerates. [PDF]

open access: yes
In the present contribution we show how the optimal amount of economic capital can be derived such that it minimizes the economic cost of risk-bearing. The economic cost of risk-bearing takes into account the cost of the economic capital as well as the ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

An improved simulation based method for selection of cell in cellular network

open access: yesDiscover Internet of Things
This work discusses a novel approach to a simulation-based cell selection that does not depend on static counts of cells or simplified models used in the cell selection process.

On efficiency of mean-variance based portfolio selection in DC pension schemes [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider the portfolio selection problem in the accumulation phase of a defined contribution (DC) pension scheme. We solve the mean-variance portfolio selection problem using the embedding technique pioneered by Zhou and Li (2000) and show that it is ...

Application of optimal contribution selection in Landrace and Large White pigs in Croatia

open access: yes, 2023
Selection for economically important traits in pigs is based on methods that require pedigree information. Such an approach results with the choice of related animals for parents of future generations, resulting with increased inbreeding rate in the population and impaired genetic diversity.
