Symbolic computation of variational symmetries in optimal control
We use a computer algebra system to compute, in an efficient way, optimal control variational symmetries up to a gauge term. The symmetries are then used to obtain families of Noether's first integrals, possibly in the presence of nonconservative ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Second-law-like inequalities with information and their interpretations
In a thermodynamic process with measurement and feedback, the second law of thermodynamics is no longer valid. In its place, various second-law-like inequalities have been advanced that each incorporate a distinct additional term accounting for the ...

An optimality theory of concurrency control for databases [PDF]
A concurrency control mechanism (or a scheduler) is the component of a database system that safeguards the consistency of the database in the presence of interleaved accesses and update requests. We formally show that the performance of a scheduler, i.e., the amount of parallelism that it supports, depends explicitly upon the amount of information that

A survey of adaptive optimal control theory
<p>This paper makes a survey about the recent development of optimal control based on adaptive dynamic programming (ADP). First of all, based on DP algorithm and reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm, the origin and development of the optimization idea and its application in the control field are introduced.

Optimal fluctuations and the control of chaos. [PDF]
The energy-optimal migration of a chaotic oscillator from one attractor to another coexisting attractor is investigated via an analogy between the Hamiltonian theory of fluctuations and Hamiltonian formulation of the control problem.

Optimal control approach for robust control design of neutral systems
This paper proposes an optimal control approach for a robust control design problem of the neutral type time-delay systems, taking parameter uncertainties and state delay into account.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
