An Optimal Control Approach for the Treatment of Solid Tumors with Angiogenesis Inhibitors

open access: yesMathematics, 2017
Cancer is a disease of unregulated cell growth that is estimated to kill over 600,000 people in the United States in 2017 according to the National Institute of Health.

Hurdle-Hop Simulation of Tilt-Rotor Aircraft Based on Optimal Control Theory

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2020
Aiming at simulating the hurdle-hop of tilt-rotor aircraft in forward flight near the ground, two models of numerical simulation and analysis based on optimal control theory were proposed.

Constrained optimal control theory for differential linear repetitive processes

open access: yes, 2008
Differential repetitive processes are a distinct class of continuous-discrete two-dimensional linear systems of both systems theoretic and applications interest.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Optimal control of wave linear repetitive processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper gives new results on optimal control of the so-called wave discrete linear repetitive processes which find novel application in the modelling of physical examples.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Nonlinear Stochastic Control and Information Theoretic Dualities: Connections, Interdependencies and Thermodynamic Interpretations

open access: yesEntropy, 2015
In this paper, we present connections between recent developments on the linearly-solvable stochastic optimal control framework with early work in control theory based on the fundamental dualities between free energy and relative entropy. We extend these

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
