Limit Problems in Optimal Control Theory [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de l'Institut Henri Poincaré C, Analyse non linéaire, 1989
The authors deal with sequences of optimal control problems of the form \[ ({\mathfrak P}_ h)\quad \min \{\int^{1}_{0}f_ h(t,y,u)dt:\quad y'=g_ h(t,y,u),\quad y(0)=y^ 0_ h\}, \] where the state variable y belongs to the Sobolev space \(Y=W^{1,1}(0,1;{\mathbb{R}}^ n)\) and the control variable u is in \(U=L^ 1(0,1;{\mathbb{R}}^ m)\). A ``limit problem''

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Duality and Network Theory in Passivity-based Cooperative Control

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a class of passivity-based cooperative control problems that have an explicit connection to convex network optimization problems. The new notion of maximal equilibrium independent passivity is introduced and it is shown that networks ...

Quantum optimal control theory for solvated systems [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2019
In this work, we generalize the quantum optimal control theory (QOCT) of molecules subject to ultrashort laser pulses to the case of solvated systems, explicitly including the solvent dielectric properties in the system’s quantum Hamiltonian. A reliable description of the solvent polarization is accounted for within the polarizable continuum model (PCM)

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Controlling rabies epidemics in Nepal with limited resources: optimal control theory approach

open access: yesMathematics in Applied Sciences and Engineering, 2020
In many developing countries, including Nepal, rabies epidemics constitute a serious public health concern, partly because of limited resources for proper implementation of control measures.

Optimal Control Theory for Continuous Variable Quantum Gates

open access: yes, 2007
We apply the methodology of optimal control theory to the problem of implementing quantum gates in continuous variable systems with quadratic Hamiltonians.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Chattering phenomenon in quantum optimal control

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2022
We present a quantum optimal control problem which exhibits a chattering phenomenon. This is the first instance of such a process in quantum control. Using the Pontryagin Maximum Principle and a general procedure due to V F Borisov and M I Zelikin, we ...
