Global testing under sparse alternatives: ANOVA, multiple comparisons and the higher criticism [PDF]
Testing for the significance of a subset of regression coefficients in a linear model, a staple of statistical analysis, goes back at least to the work of Fisher who introduced the analysis of variance (ANOVA).

ABSTRACT Purpose Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) is a rare, aggressive tumor seen in young children. The optimal timing of resection for locally advanced tumors is not well‐defined. The purpose of this study is to evaluate modern oncologic outcomes and the impact of surgical timing. Methods A multicenter retrospective review was performed

On the Sample Information About Parameter and Prediction [PDF]
The Bayesian measure of sample information about the parameter, known as Lindley's measure, is widely used in various problems such as developing prior distributions, models for the likelihood functions and optimal designs.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Robust Superimposed Training Designs for MIMO Relaying Systems Under General Power Constraints
In this paper, we investigate the superimposed training matrix designs for the channel estimation of amplify-and-forward (AF) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relaying systems under general power constraints.

Impulsive noise modeling and robust receiver design
Interference is an important limitation in many communication systems. It has been shown in many situations that the popular Gaussian approximation is not adequate and interference exhibits an impulsive behavior.

Selection and Screening Procedures to Determine Optimal Product Designs. (REVISED, April 1997) [PDF]
To compare several promising product designs, manufacturers must measure their performance under multiple environmental conditions. In many applications, a product design is considered to be seriously flawed if its performance is poor under any level of

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
