Thermophilic Sulfate Reduction in Hydrothermal Sediment of Lake Tanganyika, East Africa [PDF]
In environments with temperatures above 60 degrees C, thermophilic prokaryotes are the only metabolically active life-forms. By using the (SO42-)-S-35 tracer technique, we studied the activity of sulfate-reducing microorganisms (SRM) in hot sediment from

Leachate treatment by using composite coagulant made from polyaluminium chloride (PAC) and tapioca starch (TS) [PDF]
Landfill leachate is considered as the highly polluted liquid that is produced from infiltration of water through municipal solid waste. Coagulation and flocculation are commonly used in the leachate treatment.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

A New Strategy for Determining Optimum pH of Isozymes [PDF]
A hydrogenperoxide sensor containing peroxidase extracted from horseradish was constructed and pH effect on its sensing ability was investigated. Current profiles of the biosensor with pH and the electrophoretic analysis showed that horseradish peroxidase consists of two isozymes.
