Some characteristics of the biological optimum temperature

Journal of Thermal Biology, 1983
Abstract 1. 1.|The concept of the biological optimum temperature (BOT) is developed. 2. 2.|BOT constitutes the ambient temperature ( T a ) at which the organism is expsed to minimum thermal stress. It can be derived from the relationship between ( T a ) and rectal temperature as well as between ( T a ) and the level of energy ...

Optimum spines with temperature dependent thermal parameters

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1994
Abstract Based on the principle of minimum volume, an optimum shape of spine is proposed at a given heat duty, base temperature, and fin length. Both the thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient are temperature dependent. In this study, a power-law type wall heat flux is employed. A uniform temperature is assumed at the fin base whereas two

Optimum Decoding Temperature for Error-Correcting Codes

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1993
The conjecture of Rujan on error-correcting codes is proven. Errors in decoding of signals transmitted through noisy channels assume the smallest values when signals are decoded at a particular finite temperature. This finite-temperature decoding is compared with the conventional maximum likelihood decoding which corresponds to the T =0 case.

Temperatur‐Optimum der Fraßaktivität verschiedener Termiten‐Arten

Zeitschrift für Angewandte Entomologie, 1978
AbstractOptimal temperature of feeding activity of different termite speciesThe wood consumption of termite groups was recorded at constant temperature intervals of 2° C and the condition of the groups was determined after certain test periods, mostly 4, 8, 12 und 16 weeks. The termite species investigated were of the Termitidae Nasutitermes nigriceps (

Optimum Temperature for Growth of Juvenile Bluegills

The Progressive Fish-Culturist, 1977
Abstract Juvenile bluegills, Lepomis macrochirus (initial weight, 1.8-8.0 g), were individually marked and fed to excess during a 30-day constant temperature test; day length was 16 h. Fish were tested at temperature intervals of 2° from 20 to 36°C. The highest specific growth rate occurred at 30°C (2.35%/day); however, growth rates of only the groups ...
