Pentapartite fractionation of particles in oral fluids by differential centrifugation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Oral fluids (OFs) contain small extracellular vesicles (sEVs or exosomes) that carry disease-associated diagnostic molecules. However, cells generate extracellular vesicles (EVs) other than sEVs, so the EV population is quite heterogeneous.

Prediction of African Swine Fever Virus Inhibitors by Molecular Docking-Driven Machine Learning Models

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
African swine fever virus (ASFV) causes a highly contagious and severe hemorrhagic viral disease with high mortality in domestic pigs of all ages. Although the virus is harmless to humans, the ongoing ASFV epidemic could have severe economic consequences

Dishevelled has a YAP nuclear export function in a tumor suppressor context-dependent manner

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Hippo and Wnt pathways are important for cancer development, and they can cross talk; however, the mechanisms behind this connection are unknown. Here the authors show that DVL (a scaffold protein in the Wnt pathway) regulates the shuttling of YAP (a key

PLAG1, SOX10, and Myb Expression in Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Neoplasms [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2019
Background Recent findings in molecular pathology suggest that genetic translocation and/or overexpression of oncoproteins is important in salivary gland tumorigenesis and diagnosis.

Case Report: Papillary Lesions at the Mouth Floor May Mimic Sialadenoma Papilliferum

open access: yesPathology and Oncology Research, 2022
Salivary gland tumor Sialadenoma papilliferum (SialP) clinically resembles papillary epithelial lesions, such as squamous papilloma (SqP) or verrucous leukoplakia.

Limocitrin induced cellular death through ERK pathways in human oral squamous cell cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study sought to investigate the anticancer efficacy of limocitrin on two distinct human oral cancer cell lines. At first, we evaluated the effect of limocitrin on the proliferation of OSCC cells (SCC-9 and SCC-47) using MTT and colony formation ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Assembly and activation of the Hippo signalome by FAT1 tumor suppressor

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Dysregulation of the Hippo signaling is a frequent event in human malignancies, but the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Here the authors show that in head and neck squamous carcinoma, FAT1 interacts with the Hippo signaling complex, resulting in the

Case report: Ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma in a dog: diagnostics and surgical outcome

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
A 6 year-old spayed female Poodle presented with a mandibular mass. Radiographic examination revealed osteolysis from the right mandibular canine to the fourth premolar, along with horizontal bone loss and dorsal displacement of the right mandibular ...
