Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Altered β-catenin expression in oral mucosal dysplasia: a comparative study
Objective The current study aimed to investigate the β-catenin expression in oral leukoplakia (OL) with different degrees of epithelial dysplasia and normal oral mucosa.Material and Methods Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples of 39 OL (mild ...

Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Nuclear localization of beta-catenin involved in precancerous change in oral leukoplakia
Background Oral leukoplakia is a precancerous change developed in the oral mucosa, and the mechanism that oral leukoplakia becomes malignant through atypical epithelium is not known.

This study develops a dual‐bioinspired hydrogel, MSA@PGel (macrophage membrane‐coated and salvianolic acid B/5‐aminolevulinic acid co‐loaded liposomes embedded in a polydopamine‐based gel), that integrates macrophage membrane‐mediated active targeting and mussel‐inspired wet adhesion for programmed intervention in oral precancerous lesions.

Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel 1 Expression in Oral Malignant and Premalignant Lesions
Background: The voltage-dependent anion channel 1 protein (VDAC1) plays a role in cellular metabolism and survival. It was found to be down or upregulated (overexpressed) in different malignancies but it was never studied in application to oral lesions ...

This review explores the integration of microfluidic technology with organoid systems as an innovative platform for studying menopausea complex multi‐organ condition. By enabling precise simulation of inter‐organ communication and hormone responses, microfluidic organoids offer a physiologically relevant model for investigating menopausal syndrome and ...

Demystifying oral epithelial dysplasia: a histological guide
Oral epithelial dysplasia is a histologically diagnosed potentially premalignant disorder of the oral mucosa, which carries a risk of malignant transformation to squamous cell carcinoma. The diagnosis and grading of oral epithelial dysplasia is challenging, with cases often referred to specialist oral and maxillofacial pathology centres for second ...

Streptococcus anginosus extracellular vesicles (SA‐EVs) accumulate in gastric tissue, disrupt epithelial tight junctions, and induce gastritis characterized by neutrophil infiltration and elevated cytokines (TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐17A). Proteomics identifies TMPC and FBP62 as key SA‐EVs virulence factors; their genetic deletion attenuates inflammation ...
