A pH‐Switchable Cerium Single‐Atom Enzyme for Peri‐Implantitis Therapy via JAK‐STAT Signaling Axis‐Mediated Macrophage Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH‐switchable cerium single‐atom enzyme is developed for stage‐specific peri‐implantitis therapy. Acidic conditions trigger antibacterial peroxidase‐like activity, whereas neutral conditions activate an antioxidant superoxide dismutase ‐ and catalase ‐like enzymatic relay. This microenvironment‐adaptive catalytic strategy suppresses the IL‐6/JAK‐STAT

Determining the Onset Age for Early Intervention of Oral Frailty

open access: yes치위생과학회지
Background: Oral frailty is defined as the functional decline of the oral function due to aging, and it is associated with frailty and chronic disease. Most of the frailty intervention is for adults aged 65 years and older.

Prevalence and influencing factors of oral frailty among middle-aged and older patients with chronic kidney disease: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundOral health has emerged as a subject of significant public concern. Oral frailty represents the clinical presentation of advanced oral health decline and serves as a significant indicator of systemic frailty.

Senkyunolide I Inhibits mtDNA‐cGAS‐STING Signaling in Macrophages via Targeting VDAC1 Oligomerization to Attenuate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In macrophages, senkyunolide I (SEI) directly targets the K12 residue of VDAC1 to inhibit its stress‐induced oligomerization, a critical upstream event that effectively prevents mitochondrial DNA release and subsequent cGAS‐STING pathway activation.

Parametric frailty and shared frailty survival models [PDF]

open access: yes
Frailty models are the survival data analog to regression models, which account for heterogeneity and random effects. A frailty is a latent multiplicative effect on the hazard function and is assumed to have unit mean and variance theta, which is ...

Operationalization of oral frailty: A scoping review.

open access: yes, 2022
The objective of this scoping review is to map and synthesize the literature on oral frailty. The scoping review will also identify and document the nature and extent of evidence related to oral frailty, aiming of providing a comprehensive description of

Loss of LCN2 Function Ameliorates Glucocorticoid‐Induced Muscle Atrophy via Remodeling the Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glucocorticoids transcriptionally activate LCN2 expression via GR nuclear translocation. Secreted LCN2 binds MMP9 to degrade skeletal muscle ECM collagen, blocks integrin‐mediated mechanotransduction, bidirectionally disrupts muscle protein homeostasis, and reveals a novel target for steroid‐induced muscle atrophy.

A nomogram for predicting oral frailty in older adults: a small-sample cross-sectional study in Anhui Province, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundWith the population aging, oral frailty among older adults has become an increasingly prominent concern. Oral frailty is a condition that is highly prevalent among older adults and has a significant negative impact on their quality of life. The

CDK4/MERCs/PINK1 Axis Drives PFOA/HFPO‐TA‐Induced Cardiac Senescence via Mitophagy Defect and cGAS‐STING Activation: In Vitro Amelioration by Cycloastragenol

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The present study demonstrated that PFOA and HFPO‐TA exposure suppressed CDK4, disrupted MERCs and impaired PINK1/Parkin‐mediated mitophagy, thereby accelerating cardiac senescence, whereas CAG effectively reversed these pathological changes in vitro. Our findings identify CDK4 as a critical regulator bridging mitophagy defects and cardiac senescence ...
