D2-40 AS A POTENTIAL MARKER THAT DIFFERENTIATE VERRUCOUS CARCINOMA FROM SQUAMOUS CELL PAPILLOMA

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Background: Verrucous carcinoma is a distinct variant of oral squamous cell carcinoma characterized by slow growth and rare metastases. It may present diagnostic difficulties as it may be inaccurately diagnosed as squamous cell papilloma.

Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma share key oncogenic signatures

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
To investigate similarities in the gene profile of Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma that may justify a carcinogenic potential, we analyzed the gene expression signatures of Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma in early ...

CD177 Deficiency Defines a Stable Subtype of Human Neutrophil Granulocytes with Tumor Promoting Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human neutrophils exist as two epigenetically imprinted subtypes defined by stable CD177 expression or absence — a ratio that persists across time, circadian rhythms, and inflammation. CD177− neutrophils display a distinct molecular landscape enriched in arginase 1 and lipid metabolism markers, accumulate in head‐and‐neck tumors, and associate with ...

A Metal‐Phenolic Nanocluster Orchestrates Mito‐Ca2+ Metabolic Autonomy for Tumor Ca2+ Interference Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor Ca2+ interference therapy suffers from self‐protective Ca2+ metabolic autoregulation. In this scenario, a versatile metal‐phenolic nanocluster (TCMH) is engineered to modulate mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU) ‐mediated mito‐Ca2+ metabolic autonomy.

Association of , and variants along with HPV infection in oral cancer among the prolonged tobacco-chewers

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2018
Southeast Asia, especially India, is well known for the highest use of smokeless tobacco. These products are known to induce oral squamous cell carcinoma. However, not all long-term tobacco-chewers develop oral squamous cell carcinoma.

PDGFRα+/Integrin α2+ Fibroblasts Orchestrate Tumor Budding in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma via Mechano‐Metabolic Symbiosis: E‐Cadherin/Integrin α2β1 Adhesion and Mitochondrial Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDGFA/PDGFRα signaling recruits CAFs to OSCC nests, and CAF‐OSCC contact drives tumor budding invasion. Mechanistically, heterotypic adhesion via E‐cadherin/integrin α2β1 activates YAP signaling in OSCC cells, inducing EMT. Concurrently, CAFs transfer mitochondria through TNTs, supplying ATP to fuel invasion.

GM‐CSF Promotes Neutrophil PD‐L1 Expression Through the VEGFR‐2/STAT6/CSF2 Signaling Axis in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
VEGFR‐2 signaling in OSCC activates Src–STAT6‐dependent CSF2 transcription, driving tumor‐derived GM‐CSF secretion. GM‐CSF programs neutrophils to express PD‐L1 through STAT5–mTOR/S6K signaling, suppressing cytotoxic CD8+ T cells. This pathway reveals a tumor–neutrophil immune checkpoint circuit that limits anti‐PD‐1 responsiveness in OSCC.

Diagnostic Value of Serum and Saliva Matrix Metalloproteinase13 (MMP13) in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2020
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of enzymes responsible for extracellular matrix breakdown. Increased activity of type 13 is involved in invasion of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
