The Distribution and Dispersal of Large Haploblocks in a Superspecies

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Haploblocks are regions of the genome that coalesce to an ancestor as a single unit. Differentiated haplotypes in these regions can result from the accumulation of mutational differences in low‐recombination chromosomal regions, especially when selective sweeps occur within geographically structured populations.

Gene Flow Disruption and Population Declines in a Soil Arthropod in Fragmented Habitats

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The intensification of land use over past millennia has accelerated habitat loss and fragmentation. This is hypothesized to lead to reductions in population sizes and restrictions in gene flow, processes that amplify genetic drift with profound negative impacts on species and populations.

Whole Fruits Versus 100% Fruit Juice: Revisiting the Evidence and Its Implications for US Healthy Dietary Recommendations

open access: yesNutrition Bulletin, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Scientific literature remains inconsistent on whether and to what extent 100% fruit juice should be recommended in the diet. Specifically, the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) do not specifically refer to free sugars in fruit juice, and further clarification to provide more explicit guidance may be needed in the 2025–2030 version.

A systematic review of the relationship between portion size and indexes of adiposity in children

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
Summary Research suggests that larger food portion sizes (PS) during a meal or snack increase daily energy intake in children. However, it remains unclear whether this ‘PS effect’ would lead to a sustained increase in consumption and affect body adiposity.
