Discrete Applied Mathematics, 2000 A unital is any \(2\)-\((q^3 + 1, q + 1, 1)\) design. The classical example of a unital is an Hermitian curve embedded in \(\text{PG}(2, q^2)\). It should be noted that not all unitals of order \(q\) are embedded in projective planes of order \(q^2\).

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Although too much iron in the brain promotes neurodegeneration, iron ion chelators have had mixed effects in clinical trials. This review explains why; some chelators do not render the iron redox‐inactive (e.g., L1) whereas others do (e.g., desferrioxamine).

ORDER ISOMORPHISMS OF COMPLETE ORDER-UNIT SPACES
Canadian Journal of MathematicsWe investigate order isomorphisms, which are not assumed to be linear, between complete order unit spaces. We show that two such spaces are order isomorphic if and only if they are linearly order isomorphic. We then introduce a condition which determines whether all order isomorphisms on a complete order unit space are automatically affine.

Molecular Oncology, EarlyView.Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).
