A Piezo‐Mimetic Ionic Hydrogel Harnessing Joint Motion for Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezo‐mimetic ionic hydrogel converts mechanical deformation into bioactive ionic currents via stress‐induced asymmetric ion migration. Coupled with sustained Mg2+ release, this mechano‐electrochemical platform bridges mechanical loading and cellular signaling, enabling load‐adaptive stimulation and enhanced cartilage regeneration. The multispecific organic anion transporter (OAT) family

Pflugers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 2000
Organic anion transporters play important roles in the elimination of a variety of endogenous substances, xenobiotics and their metabolites from the body. During the last decade, molecular cloning has identified several families of multispecific organic anion transporters mediating the renal and hepatic elimination of organic anions and, most recently,

Identification of multispecific organic anion transporter 2 expressed predominantly in the liver

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1998
In the present study, we demonstrate that NLT (novel liver-specific transport protein) is a multispecific organic anion transporter of the liver.

Major role of organic anion transporter 3 in the transport of indoxyl sulfate in the kidney

open access: yesKidney International, 2002
Major role of organic anion transporter 3 in the transport of indoxyl sulfate in the kidney.BackgroundIndoxyl sulfate is a uremic toxin that accumulates in the body because of the patient's inability to excrete it and it induces a number of uremic ...

Molecular Cloning and Functional Characterization of a Polyspecific Organic Anion Transporter from Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1999
We have cloned a polyspecific organic anion transporter from Caenorhabditis elegans and elucidated its functional characteristics. The C. elegans anion transporter (CeOAT1) codes for a protein of 526 amino acids containing 12 putative transmembrane ...

Interaction of Human Organic Anion Transporters 2 and 4 with Organic Anion Transport Inhibitors

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2002
The organic anion transport system is involved in the tubular excretion and reabsorption of various drugs and substances. The purpose of this study was to characterize the effects of various organic anion transport inhibitors on renal organic anion transport using proximal tubule cells stably expressing human organic anion transporter 2 (hOAT2) and ...

Organic Anion Transporters

2002
Organic anion transporters were first identified in intestine, liver, and kidney based on extensive studies of membrane transport phenomena mainly of xenobiotics. Recent advances in membrane transport studies with the use of molecular biological approaches have confirmed the participation of such carrier-mediated transport in these tissues and the ...

Carrier-mediated transport of quercetin conjugates: Involvement of organic anion transporters and organic anion transporting polypeptides

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2012
Flavonoids modulate cell signaling and inhibit oxidative enzymes. After oral consumption, they circulate in human plasma as amphiphilic glucuronide or sulfate conjugates, but it is unknown how these physiological metabolites permeate into cells. We examined the mechanisms of uptake of these conjugates into hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells, and ...

Renal Transport of Organic Anions and Cations

Comprehensive Physiology, 2011
Abstract Organic anions and cations (OAs and OCs, respectively) comprise an extraordinarily diverse array of compounds of physiological, pharmacological, and toxicological importance. The kidney, primarily the renal proximal tubule, plays a critical role in regulating the plasma concentrations of these organic ...

Renal transport of organic anions

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 1998
This review deals with the different transport mechanisms mediating the apical and basolateral transport of organic anions, all of which are restricted to the proximal tubule. Several transport mechanisms, such as the para-aminohippurate basolateral transporter and the apical proton coupled di- and tripeptide transporter have been cloned, and their ...
