Photosynthesis of phytoplankton of the Klyaz'minsk reservoir. [Translation from: Trudy VI Soveshchaniya po Problemem Biologii Vnutrennikh Vod. Moscow, Izd. Akad. Nauk SSSR. pp. 273-287, 1955] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1955
The processes of synthesis and destruction of organic matter play an important role in the ”self-cleaning” of reservoirs. The basic problem of this investigation consists of the role of phytoplankton in enriched waters of the Klyaz'minsk water reservoir ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Photoelectrocatalytic Cl-mediated C(sp 3)–H aminomethylation of hydrocarbons by BiVO4 photoanodes

open access: yesNature Communications
Interfacial photoelectrochemistry at photoanodes has been extensively researched for solar energy conversion, but its application for the production of high-value-added chemical compounds in organic chemistry still presents challenges.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Axial‐Chiral Vertex Integration Strategy for the Construction of a High‐Affinity, Homochiral Pd4L2 Cage

open access: yesAggregate
Metal–organic cages (MOCs) are versatile supramolecular platforms, but their modest binding affinities in aqueous solution limit practical utility. Chiral MOCs with enhanced binding capabilities are highly desirable for diverse applications, yet their ...

DYNAMIC ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF A RESIDUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN COTTON [PDF]

open access: yes
Residue management system (RMS), comprised of no till cultivation, a winter cover crop, and poultry litter, could be an alternative to existing management system in cotton production in the Georgian Piedmont. We compare the productivity and profitability

Congener specific organic carbon normalized soil and sediment-water partitioning coefficients for the C1 through C8 perfluorinated alkylsulfonic and alkylcarboxylic acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Organic carbon normalized soil and sediment-water partitioning (Koc) coefficients were estimated for all C1 through C8 perfluorinated alkylsulfonic acid (PFSA) and alkylcarboxylic acids (PFCA) congeners.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Organic farming effects on clay dispersion in carbon-exhausted soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Many Danish soils are depleted in organic matter (OM) after decades of intensive cereal cultivation (Schjønning et al., 2009). In this paper we show that clay particles (colloids) in soils that are low in OM content are easily dispersed in the soil water,

Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.
