Abstract Herein, we present the first light‐mediated, diastereoselective de novo synthesis for 2,3‐substituted indolines, a privileged scaffold in pharmaceuticals. The protocol was tested with various aryl and alkyl groups, maintaining high yields up to 85% across different substituents.

Stereocontrol in Conformationally Stable C(sp2)─C(sp3) Atropisomers
Building in our expertize in the synthesis of trans‐dihydrobenzofurans via organocatalyzed domino Michael/O‐cyclization between β‐naphthols and nitroalkenes, we developed an efficient strategy to access a new family of atropisomers bearing a conformationally stable C(sp2)─C(sp3) bond and two stereogenic centers through simple and highly ...

Asymmetric total synthesis of smyrindiol employing an organocatalytic aldol key step
The first organocatalytic asymmetric synthesis of smyrindiol, by using an (S)-proline catalyzed enantioselective intramolecular aldol reaction as the key step, is described. Smyrindiol was synthesized from commercially available 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde

The impact of olefin backbone substitution in N‐heterocyclic olefin‐substituted phosphines is investigated. While these ligands are highly electron‐donating, their catalytic activity in Pd‐catalyzed CN cross‐coupling reactions decreases as the size of the backbone substituent increases.

An unprecedent dual catalytic nanophotocatalytic and asymmetric organocatalytic system for the α‐functionalization of aldehydes is developed using carbon nanodots as photosensitizers. The optimized methodology yields the alkylated products with up to 94% yield and up to 98:2 e.r., evidencing the possible recycling of the nanocatalysts.
