A Rotaxane‐Based Switchable Organocatalyst
Angewandte Chemie, 2012Switch it on! The activity of an organocatalytic group incorporated within a rotaxane architecture can be controlled by switching the position of the macrocycle. The system was used to mediate the progress of the Michael addition of an aliphatic thiol to trans-cinnamaldehyde. Copyright © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.

Polymeric chiral organocatalysts
Polymer Chemistry, 2011Incorporation of a chiral quaternary ammonium salt into a polymer allows for the preparation of a polymeric chiral organocatalyst that can be utilized in various asymmetric transformations in organic synthesis. Chiral quaternary ammonium salts are among the most important and frequently used organocatalysts.

Nucleophilic Carbenes as Organocatalysts
2008N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) have become an important class of organocatalysts and class of ligands for transition-metal catalysis. In organocatalyzed umpolung reactions, thiazolium salt-derived NHC have been used successfully for decades. Even so, during recent years there has been an increased interest in NHC-catalyzed transformations and many new ...

Alkaloid Synthesis Using Organocatalysts
2018This chapter covers the literature since the advent, in the 21st century, of total syntheses of alkaloids using enantio- or diastereoselective organocatalytic reactions to construct the alkaloid scaffolds. The details of these alkaloid syntheses are described separately for each basic skeleton, including indole, indoline, oxindole, and piperidine ...

Dope new organocatalysts for ATRP
Nature Reviews Chemistry, 2021A re-evaluation of the design principles of organocatalysts for atom transfer radical polymerization has led to the development of heteroatom-doped polycyclic arenes as highly active photocatalysts.

N‐Heterocyclic Carbenes as Organocatalysts
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2007AbstractOrganocatalyzed reactions represent an attractive alternative to metal‐catalyzed processes notably because of their lower cost and benign environmental impact in comparison to organometallic catalysis. In this context, N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have been studied for their ability to promote primarily the benzoin condensation.

Facile Preparation of Flavinium Organocatalysts
ChemSusChem, 2016AbstractWe developed a safe, simple, inexpensive, and environmentally benign method for preparing N(5)‐ethylated flavinium organocatalysts without using hazardous reagents or inert conditions as previously required. 5‐Ethyl‐3‐methyllumiflavinium cation was prepared from its reduced form by NaNO2‐free aerobic oxidation, which was subsequently extracted ...

Soluble polymer-supported organocatalysts
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 2012Organocatalysts have been extensively studied for the past few decades as alternatives to transition-metal catalysts. Immobilizing organocatalysts on polymer supports allows easy recovery and simple product purification after a reaction. Select examples of recent reports that describe the potential advantages of using soluble polymers to prepare ...
